CES 2027 Japan Pavilions: Interpreter Planning for Japanese Exhibitors

If your company is exhibiting with a Japan pavilion at CES 2027 (January 6–9, Las Vegas), check exactly which interpretation your pavilion package includes — and plan your own coverage for the gaps. Pavilion programs typically provide booth space, shared stages, and pitch coaching, but conversations at your own booth, buyer meetings, and dinners usually still need an interpreter who knows your product. Book by early November: qualified Japanese interpreters in Las Vegas fill up fast for CES week.

Which Japan pavilions are at CES 2027?

Several Japanese groups are organizing pavilions for CES 2027:

  • Tokyo Pavilion — the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is exhibiting a Tokyo Pavilion for the first time, recruiting around 10 Tokyo-based small and mid-sized companies focused on AI and advanced technology.
  • JAPAN TECH — organized by the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Creative Vision Inc., with booths in both Eureka Park (startups) and the Global Pavilion at the Venetian Expo. Its previous edition drew a record 37 Japanese companies.
  • JETRO Japan Pavilion — JETRO has run a Japan Pavilion in Eureka Park in recent years; at CES 2026 it brought 31 Japanese startups to the Venetian Expo.

  • What do pavilion packages usually include?

It varies by program, so read your package terms carefully:

  • Tokyo Pavilion — the Tokyo government covers basic exhibition and business-meeting costs, including booth fees, pavilion setup, PR materials, and business-meeting interpreters (商談通訳).
  • JAPAN TECH — the package lists a shared pitch space (professional MC, large monitor, microphones), an English pitch clinic, and meetup events. It does not list interpretation.
  • Shared stages and pitch events are generally run in English. Coaching helps you deliver a pitch, but the Q&A afterward and the follow-up conversations are where a precise interpreter matters most.

  • Where do interpretation gaps usually appear?

Even when a pavilion provides some interpreting, it is usually shared across exhibitors and tied to scheduled meetings. Common gaps:

  • Walk-up booth traffic. CES visitors arrive unannounced and expect a real conversation, not a brochure.
  • Technical depth. A shared interpreter will not know your specifications, roadmap, or patent position the way a briefed dedicated interpreter will.
  • Off-floor meetings. Buyer meetings at hotels, partner dinners, and follow-up sessions outside pavilion hours.
  • Executive visits. Senior leaders flying in for one or two days need escort interpretation and help moving between venues.
  • Materials. Pitch decks, one-pagers, and product sheets need natural English — not a literal translation of the Japanese.

  • How should a pavilion exhibitor plan interpreters?

    1. Confirm what is covered. Ask your pavilion organizer in writing: how many interpreters, which hours, shared or dedicated, and whether off-site meetings are included.

    2. Map your hours. List booth hours, booked meetings, and evening events that need interpretation.

    3. Choose the mode. Booth conversations and meetings are consecutive interpretation; only keynotes or large seminars need simultaneous.

    4. Staff busy days properly. A full booth day usually needs two interpreters rotating — see how many interpreters a booth needs.

    5. Brief early. Send product materials and a glossary at least two weeks before the show so your interpreter learns your terminology.

    6. Book now. For CES week, aim to confirm interpreters 8 weeks out — early November for CES 2027.

    FAQ

Does my pavilion package include an interpreter?

It depends on the program. Tokyo Pavilion lists business-meeting interpreters among the covered costs; JAPAN TECH's package lists pitch support but not interpretation. Always confirm with your organizer.

Can we add our own interpreter if the pavilion already provides one?

Yes. Many exhibitors add a dedicated interpreter for their booth or for off-site meetings, on top of the shared pavilion support.

When should we book for CES 2027?

By early November 2026. Qualified Japanese interpreters in Las Vegas are scarce during CES week.

    How much does it cost?

See our Japanese interpreter cost guide for typical market ranges. NihonVegas engagements start from $1,000 per day, and full-show coverage is custom-quoted.
